A juicing primer.
I’ve had some requests for some of the information I’m basing this juice fast on. I am aiming to get between 32 and 64 ounces of pure juice each day, not counting dilution with water or ice, with a mix of fruits and veg and at least 1/3 of it green. My breakfast and evening drinks are around 20-22 ounces each, so I think I’m good there. The thing about trying to get 1200 calories a day from juice is that it seems nearly impossible. I drink juice every day until I can’t stand it anymore (except for days when I haven’t been at home and juicing has been especially inconvenient, like when I’ve been working). I can’t imagine stuffing in another 20-22 ounce drink, plus 32-64 ounces again in water — though this is how you feel full most of the time. Needless to say, there’s a lot of peeing. (I’m still trying to find a link for these guidelines, bear with me.)
Here is the blog of a 40-day juice fast that really inspired me to try this. They do a lot of other crazy detox stuff like dry brushing and eating for blood type and coffee enemas, and you know there’s probably something to all those supplements they’re taking — but mostly this is the only blog I’d read that not only covered the entire length of the juice fast, but seemed reasonable about it. By which I mean, it wasn’t all blended peaches and sunshine, and they had some hard days and were honest about it.
